Protection Psychology: Self-Development as a Gateway to Nature Conservation

Target Audience:

  • Protected area managers, environmental specialists, employees, and activists in environmental organizations.

Course Outcomes:

  • Provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and concepts of protection psychology and self-development as an entry point for nature conservation.
  • Develop participants’ capacities and skills in leadership, negotiation, and decision-making under environmental pressures and emergency situations.
  • Enable participants to recognize the importance and significance of protection psychology and self-development for nature conservation.

Course Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to build a strong psychological and spiritual connection before starting fieldwork in nature.
  • Participants will be able to transform concern for the environment (climate anxiety) into positive energy for action instead of frustration.
  • Enable participants to persuade opponents (such as hunters and investors) of the value of nature conservation without confrontation.

    • Mindfulness in the field.
  2. Leadership and Influence Skills: Influence & Leadership
    • Environmental charisma.
    • Persuasive negotiation.
    • Servant leadership.
  3. Psychological Resilience and Stress Management:
    • Managing burnout.
    • Decision-making under pressure.
    • Systems thinking.
  4. Creativity and Innovative Solutions:
    • Design thinking.
    • Storytelling.
