The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Wildlife Development Department, organized an awareness event to plant Umm Juwairah Rawdat in the Al Ghuwairiya area, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to rehabilitate terrestrial ecosystems, enhance natural vegetation cover, and preserve and ensure the sustainability of rawdats across various areas of the State of Qatar.
The event was held as part of the 2026 Rawdat Planting Season, implemented by the Ministry to support efforts to restore natural habitats and protect biodiversity. The initiative contributes to enhancing the sustainability of local ecosystems and promoting responsible environmental practices in dealing with rawdats and terrestrial areas.
The event was attended by a number of environmental specialists and stakeholders and included field activities to plant the rawdat, as well as raising awareness of the importance of rehabilitating natural areas and conserving native wild plants, and highlighting the role of rawdats in supporting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.
In this context, the Ministry affirmed that organizing such initiatives forms part of its ongoing efforts to plant rawdats and rehabilitate affected areas, support the growth of native wild plants, and improve vegetation cover. These efforts contribute to restoring the natural characteristics of these sites and enhancing their capacity to provide a suitable environment for living organisms, while preserving the environmental and aesthetic value of Qatar’s terrestrial areas.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change noted that, through these events, it seeks to promote a culture of rawdat conservation and raise public awareness of the importance of avoiding practices that could damage vegetation cover or degrade natural habitats, while encouraging positive behaviors that ensure the sustainable use of terrestrial areas.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change continues to implement initiatives and programs aimed at protecting the terrestrial environment, developing vegetation cover, and conserving biodiversity, supporting the State of Qatar’s efforts towards achieving sustainable environmental development and building a more sustainable and balanced environment, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
