The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by the Radiation Protection Department, conducted specialized training for the Radiation Measurement Laboratory team with the aim of developing the capabilities of national personnel and enhancing the laboratory’s efficiency in accurately detecting and measuring radiation levels, thereby strengthening the protection of people and the environment and supporting the radiation safety and security system in the State of Qatar.
The training was conducted in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and focused on developing the team’s skills in using the latest technologies and software that assist specialists in analyzing various samples and accurately measuring the levels of radioactive materials they contain, in addition to practical training on advanced techniques for detecting different types of radiation and determining their levels.
This type of training enables the laboratory to handle a wide range of samples more efficiently, regardless of their nature, size, or form, and to obtain more accurate and reliable results. This contributes to supporting the radiation monitoring and testing activities carried out by the Ministry and expanding the scope of technical services provided by the laboratory in accordance with approved national and international standards.
The training also contributes to enhancing the readiness of national personnel to carry out various radiation measurement and analysis activities and make effective use of modern technologies to detect and assess any abnormal radiation levels. This helps facilitate the implementation of appropriate measures to safeguard the health and safety of the community and the environment.
The implementation of this training forms part of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s ongoing efforts to develop the radiation protection system in the State of Qatar, invest in the training and qualification of national expertise, and equip them with the latest knowledge and technologies in cooperation with specialized international organizations.
